A Lost Woman Seeking Help

How do you find out what it is you were made to be in life? I am 21 years old (I know I’m still young), but I feel as though my life is just passing me by. I have slim to no knowledge of what it is in life that amazes me and what life path I would like to walk. All my life my family controlled what I said, what I did, what I saw, what I experienced and it was all very much the things they wanted me to do and not at all what I was interested in. I’m a single parent of a 4 year old and I don’t want her to grow up seeing me struggle or unhappy because I haven’t discovered who I am yet. What do I do?

You say:" Not at all what I was interested in" And "what" was that? Was it a passion you had and were told it would be a futile persuance? Do ya like the medical field? One young lady I know, 27 I think ,just completed the phlebotomist school and makes killer $$$ now.Another, bout the same age, went into radiology and makes killer $$$ as well. Heck , the girl who did my knee Xrays the other day looked like she was 16..LOL. My whole life has been about the passion that keeps me happenin thru the times of turmoil, bare cupboards, uncertain economy, sickness, sustaining the will/fortitude to push thru and keep possible work contacts in play. Whats your passion? What is it ya think ya might wanna do , where you'd be content doing it day in / day out? What would ya be willing to try? Ya gotta strip yourself of ALL insecurity's that can program you to not try new things, "test the waters" and be WILLING to fail and not be very good at them in the beginning, make mistakes. Ya gotta be an open book/vulnerable willing appear dumb, soaking up anything /everything that passion requires to be good at it. I think ya know who you are....Are ya afraid to BE HER? I was alot like you as a teen with the oldman not encouraging me to work on my car myself, assist in home repairs, learning electrical/ carpentry/ plumbing skills so when I got off the road playin music at 40, I was MUCH like you at 21. Had to try a few new occupations, look DUMB (OMG! that guys 40 and cant.... cant..... and cant.....LOL) Had to re invent myself and that took sailing uncharted waters to find some kinda passion again. It didnt jump up and bite my like it did at 17 ,making my choices VERY easy till 40.Yeah girl, deal with this right now, cause the older ya get , the more complacent you'll get and will be forced just settling for any job to pay rent/food for you/ baby girl/ livin check to check. IMO, you not that young....Years have a way of getting away from ya once your in your 20s...Thirty comes on QUICK..LOL...Be finding/discovering/ developing that PASSION. Just some things to think about....Geez , 4 yrs old..(wear me OUT..LOL). Bet she's a precious handful..LOL .

First of all don't feel alone. This is more common than you'd think. As someone only one year younger than you I can tell you that you're really not supposed to know what life's all about or what youre supposed to do. Maybe it'll take years to figure out or maybe you'll never know. But all you can do is do the best for your baby. One day It'll make sense.

I am sorry to hear this. You are indeed at a young age and raising a child is no easy feat. To not live life as one wants is even more depressing. Have you talked about it with your family, how you feel and what you think? Yes you are young, but you are grown up now with a child too. You should be able to live as you want and do what you love.
