That’s the thing about the NFL. It’s not like cfb. Each team spends one week getting ready for the other. Other than maybe Alabama; no one does that in college. In college some coaches will spend a little scrimmage time every week from spring on; plus coaches viewing tape 365, trying to get ready to beat one opponent. You upset that one big name opponent; especially if it’s the arch rival or someone your fans hate; & not only can you keep your job in a down yr; but you can get massive raises, & offered better jobs. It can get assistants offered better jobs too. That’s why you sometimes here “no matter how bad they are they always play this team tough”. Well sure; they spent 365 getting ready for one game. Michigan trying to beat mighty Ohio State; or Sparti trying to beat Michigan. In the NFL it’s one week each. The rules are endlessly changed to promote more scoring; more yards; help mobile QBs (fans like excitement. Standing in pocket is not fun to watch); protect key players; & KEEP SCORES CLOSE. This helps with gambling; keeping fans watching till the ends; the losing fan base thinking they were so close, etc. it makes picking a winner very hard. I thought Seattle would win. Watched start. Looked good. Yet they lost. Kansas City shows you the current elite team against one that’s currently intentionally tanking perhaps; in hopes of better draft picks. You just never know till deeper in season. Then the ones who want to lose to win in draft become very obvious, as they promise that’s not what they’re doing. In the pros it’s all about $. No college team ever tanks. Kansas plays like I wanted to long ago. QB runs around till can throw ball. He’s so small he’d been hurt a lot in 70s & 80s; but he’s perfect today. I saw him in college. First time I said he’d win a super due to new rules. People laughed at me. Bad college team vs bad defenses they said. Well sure. But all cfb & NFL rules we’re changing to help guys like him complete passes & stay healthy. He’s what fans want to see. Reach the NFL; & their rules try to surround QBs in bubble wrap & a 6 ft pandemic distance for safety. You watch him in NFL? He’s awesome. In past he’d been toast. Sometimes you have to be born in right era. Broncos used to have John Elway. Now they don’t. But would John get a chance to develop in modern cfb & NFL? It’s hard for a pocket QB to develop today. They need a lot of on field time. They can’t just run away down field of line breaks down or receivers fail to get open.
