The present situation in the country is not a friendly one and it is a reflection of bad governance. Any government that does not consider the welfare of the masses will have a larger proportion of criminals. ‘the present situation in the country is a reflection of bad governance' One can never imagine that States have food items of these volumes in warehouses inspite of hunger and sufferings in the land. It is very unfortunate that the so called leaders that claim straightforwardness and transparency at all times are practicing wickedness of this magnitude. California donated Palliatives (CA-COVID Palliatives) to Nigerian States and were kept in warehouses in the country when people cannot even afford buying staple food again. Imagine a bag of rice going for N40,000 ($100). Garri is now food of the rich. It is disheartening that these hungry youths were the ones you sent to store those food items. If the government has brought out these food as a measure to cushion the effect of skyrocketed prices of food, it would not result into all these. Reasonable youths would have opened the place and ask their governors, the purpose for hoarding those food items. They can even monitor the distribution to the needy and not by stealing from the warehouses by claiming that they have taken their own portion of what the government ought to have given them. Possible reason why these state governors behave like this is because of re-election into office come 2023. They know that hunger is in the land and mere giving out these food items after rebranding will earn them their votes. It is so disappointing that CPS to the governor of Kwara State and many other defenders were saying all sorts of unacceptable defences. CPS on SOBI FM claimed that the food carted away from Agro Mall was donated to the State by NEMA and that fifteen (15) LGAs have been given, that only one LGA was to be given before the mall was looted. The question is, was the food meant for those that were not affected by the rainstorm? Because it was never recorded that all the LGAs were affected by rainstorm. Can the government come out with evidences of those ones already distributed, after all, the governor always claims he is opened to social audit? Kwara State’s version is a terrible one. Businesses were looted and a lot damage were seen from pictures and video footages. This interprets that there are more thieves and hoodlums in the state than law abiding citizens, if shops where other luxuries which are not run by the government were looted this way. Those who did the looting are lazy and would not work even if they are offered employments. Much as I agree to terms of #ENDSARS protest because of the excesses of Nigerian Police officers, I don’t support long protest because it leads to situations like this. Will one blame the SARS operatives with all these attitudes, do they want to be doing this and go free. But the great concern is can Kwara State governor perform his duty of ‘protection of lives and properties’? A governor who doesn’t stay in the state, he doesn’t talk, he is a lover of propaganda, etc. He announced curfew and Ilorin people defy it. Are Kwarans safe in the hands of this man? It is a great pity for parents and relatives of those hooligans because they will never know joy throughout their lives. It becomes worrisome because they will want to lead this country tomorrow. No wonder the old ones refuse to stand up from the ruling seats for the destroyers of tomorrow.
