Looking back, I now understand how many micro-aggressions have been tolerated in the past and recent by my stepfather. He isn’t open to any opinions other than his and thinks that he is always the ‘right’ one in the situation. I’ve had so much pent up frustration and anger towards him: why can’t he try to understand new morals and corrections of the past? For instance, he believes that the humans are superior to the rest of species in the world, believing that we can do anything to animals without the consequences (because we are more ‘intelligent’). He thinks that lgbtq+ rallies aren’t important and are just a ‘nuisance’. Same goes with the BLM movement. After all, “aren’t they being too loud? Excessive? Extra?” With him being a privileged cis white male, it frustrates me for him to ‘okay’ these thoughts. He is a loving person, but nevertheless shouldn’t justify his radicalized opinions. Sorry for the rant.
