someone I care about has been abusing their anxiety meds. To the point where he used up an entire script of xanax in two weeks, then his doctor (idiot I hate her) decided the meds just weren't working and he needed a different type so she prescribed him klonopin but then he called her TWO DAYS after receiving that and begged her for Valium which she GAVE HIM EXTRAS SHE HAD FROM HER HOUSE WITHOUT A SCRIPT. Now he's taking double the dose which is already pretty high (30 mg a day) so he's had 60 today and he's still curled up in a ball in a fetal position with shakes and chills and terrible anxiety. I have tried gently suggesting he call his doctor and let her know how bad he's doing but he keeps responding with "I already texted her yesterday to let her know I needed my other med filled" So I tried to gently push and say hey this sounds like you have built up a tolerance and your body is starting to go through benzo withdrawals and that could like... kill you. Especially since you stopped Xanax and Klonopin just cold turkey. I really think you should call." Now he's telling me that he can't be going through withdrawals or have built up a tolerance because he would have noticed it. But he also admitted that he's been anxious for the past week and nothing has helped. I tried to call his doctor for him, and she basically laughed at me and called me a dramatic baby and that I need to stop calling her when he's struggling. (I left a message with her supervisor informing them about everything here) I don't know what to do. I'm worried, but I work 2 jobs go to school full time, and am a single mom to a 2 year old so I can't really give anything to anyone else right now.
