I hate my job, because I hate the people in my industry. I hate my job so bad, that I spend all my money on the weekend to escape my job. Which is ruining my life. All they ever do is over complicate things and move goal posts. It leaves other IT worker exhausted learning new system, and new processes to do the same old thing. If that wasn’t bad enough the job protectionism in the IT industry is the worse I’ve ever seen. They actually go out of their way to make sure others can’t understand what they have built as a way of making themselves critical to the running of the business, and to make themselves look smarter than everyone else.IT is a good laugh up to 30 years old, you feel like you are learning and progressing. But the laugh is on you. After the 3rd or 4th iteration you realise you are learning new ways of doing the same thing, and most the time it’s not any faster, easier or better. It’s just different for the sake of being different. Working in IT is a terrible waste of time. It’s late night, no time to yourself and constant unrealistic demands. If you think you have creative freedom, you are wrong: You have to do it their way or the highway. But their way is constantly changing.I can’t wait to get out of the industry, then I can throw unrealistic demands at a bunch of new fresh faces, that haven’t worked out the game yet. It’s a game for chumps. While you learn the latest development pattern or operating system, everyone else is learning how to actually make money and getting on with running their side businesses. - An IT Worker.
