Big fan. Was hoping to see it work. But he had no off season with new team. League is set up to help passing game; & specifically mobile QBs. They had to in order to find a way to play the QBs coming out of college. Colleges don’t spend 4 yrs developing pocket QBs with pinpoint accuracy & the ability to read Ds & alternate plans anymore. You don’t have to be as accurate anymore. You can throw across the field. You can run without getting your career ended. So Tom is a dinosaur. The last of the gunslingers. Could you imagine if say Dan Marino we’re playing today? No one taking out his legs. Able to throw across the middle. He’d light it up for years. But he’d probably never reach the NFL; because he’d never play at a big college school. Terry Bradshaw almost certainly wouldn’t. Things change. So like me; Tom is a dinosaur. I’d love to see him win a Super Bowl with the Bucs. One last hurah for real football. But the pandemic greatly lessens the odds. I do think he will make the playoffs. But you can see they haven’t practiced together. I remember watching college football & seeing Pat Mahommes. I said he’s not as fast or strong as me. But reminds me of how I tried to play in the 70’s. Granted they made me a fullback. Also; no way would I have played in the NFL. I’m just saying the style of play. I said if I had an NFL team I’d draft this guy. People laughed at me. He’s too tiny. Well; he’s already won a super bowl. This is the future perfect NFL QB. Drew Brees & Aaron Rodgers types. Sure; the less skilled better runners like Lamar Jackson & Cam Newton can make it too. But they will accumulate injuries, even with all the rules protecting them. Tua at Miami? Not sold. Good guy. But I felt Alabama messed up using him every week. He won’t let go of the football. He hangs onto the ball & takes hits like he’s Elway or Newton. But he’s built like a slight WR. Teams obvi targeted his legs. You have to know when to throw the ball away & fall down as a QB; unless your built like a tank. He’s not. The NFL will protect him better than cfb did. But I think he’s going to be like the last Titan QB. Signs of brilliance, but lots of injuries. Doesn’t he have a brother? Did he go to Alabama too? I watched them the other day. They had the same QB who was the backup last year I think. He looked OK. I think Clemson has the best QB & team. I think Ohio St has the second best QB & team. I’m fully aware the sec is the best conference & wins a lot of Natis. But they have endless player & assistant coach turnover every year. They also play each other & beat each other up. Clemson & Oh St can retain players & coaches easier. In fact; I don’t think anyone goes after Clemson assistants. Bunch of old over paid dudes. They don’t even want to leave. The sec poaches each other’s coaches. Have to recruit against each other. Have you ever looked at how much they spend on facilities & coaches? It’s like a conference full of Oregon’s; only with better coaches & players. They really love their football. See Clemson can rest players; heal players; hide the playbook, in the ACC. LSU can’t do that. Back to the NFL. I don’t see Tom winning a super bowl this year. I have a few teams in mind. I’ll try discuss that next.
