I worked in a nightclub once as assistant manager. One night the manager was off so I was in charge and locking up, the owner had taken the safe key home with him so I phoned him and asked what I should do with the bagged up change. He told me to just hide it at the back of a shelf on the bar, which I naively did.Came in the next day and they fired me, accusing me of stealing the money. Turns out their teenage son was the first one in that morning with the owner before I got there, the only person who could have taken it was the son. They refused to pay me. I wanted to call the police but they wouldn't let me, literally there was nothing I could do. I still think about that and how humiliated I felt and absolutely helpless that there was nothing I could do to prove my innocence. That sucked.
